Bette Midler and 50 Cent collaboration?
/artist/news/detail.aspx?nid=677&aid=2770 Really?
Apparently so....
The Divine Miss M is has confirmed she will soon be collaborating with gansta-rapper 50 Cent! We’re not sure whether to expect a ghetto-remixed Wind Beneath My Winds or a soppy Broadway rendition of Candy Shop, complete with show girls dressed up as fairy floss sticks.
Thankfully, it has been hinted the pair are venturing away from both their signature genres to work on a 1920s-inspired jazz song...(what the?!)
Midler said: "Little Jewish lady and the great big rapper. He's such a doll. I love him. He's gorgeous. I was hoping we'd sing songs from the Depression, but he's so young that I don't think he knows any of them. I'm going to have to check things out and see what he feels like singing."
The 63-year-old singer and the 33-year-old hip-hop star met when Midler's environmental group, the New York Restoration Project decided to build a public garden in 50 Cent’s childhood neighbourhood of Queens.
Midler added to ‘E!’: "He never asked how much. He just said, ‘Where do I sign?’ "
"He is one of the newest members of our tribe. He has really made my life worth living. 50 has been with me through thick and thin," she said.
The rapper is apparently equally thrilled to be collaborating with the 63-year-old star, claiming it would be "hot".
"Look how beautiful things are and how nice it feels when I'm around her," said the rapper, speaking at the spring picnic for the New York Restoration Project in Fort Tryon Park.
50 Cent a.k.a real name Curtis Jackson and Midler will reunite on May 19, for the Restoration Project's annual spring picnic in New York City.
Country singer Dolly Parton and fashion consultant Tim Gunn are also expected to attend.
I just want to see Fiddy in a set of braces, bow tie and felt hat. And tail coat. And maybe a cane in tow...
