1. A& R

A&R focus on developing Universal’s talent roster. The team works with studios, graphic artists, band managers and label managers to assist with the development and implementation of marketing plans, artwork, commercial releases and advertising.

2. Marketing

Universal’s Marketing team work across all releases and artists, including international and domestic mainstream releases, classics and jazz as well as strategic titles. The marketing team focus on everything from scheduling products for release in Australia, working with overseas affiliates to develop plans which build local and international artist bases both overseas and here in Australia, working with promoters on artist tours, managing advertising campaigns, and building support with sales, promotions and publicity and digital teams.

3. Promotions & Publicity

The Promotions & Publicity team is focused on maximising the exposure of Universal artists. This is achieved through many mediums including Television, Radio, Print and Online, incorporating artist interviews, editorial, promotions, online streaming, showcases and radio and television airplay.

4. Sales

Universal’s Sales team focus on achieving CD sales targets by developing strong relationships with physical retail partners. Optimum results are achieved for the designated company priorities and objectives by working closely with the marketing, digital and promotions business groups.

5. Digital

Universal’s Digital team focuses on two key areas. The Digital sales team work closely with online and mobile business partners in order to make sure all Universal releases are available digitally and promoted on portal. The Digital Services team manage and design online content including websites and social networking profiles, as well as managing our artist fan bases online.

6. Finance

Universal’s Finance team are responsible for controlling expenditure and ensuring that the company’s profile objectives are attained, as well as managing assets and liabilities to generate cash flow. Financial results are analysed, interpreted and reported to management and external parties. Budgeting and forecasting are key functions, enabling the company to regularly monitor its performance in a fast moving, and constantly changing business environment.

7. Legal & Business Affairs

The Legal & Business Affairs team provide legal advice and services to all other business groups within Universal Music Australia. Legal & Business Affairs protect the Company's intellectual property and commercial interests and take action where rights are infringed. The team also draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documentation, including artist recording agreements, producer contracts, music video agreements, new technology deals, and licence agreements.

8. Human Resources

The Human Resources team are focused on influencing the culture of today in line with Universal’s business objectives of tomorrow. The HR department are involved in attracting, recruiting and developing the best local and international team members for Universal Music Australia, Universal Publishing, Ministry of Sound and affiliates.

9. Information Technology

The IT team help to provide a reliable communications infrastructure, quality computing services and support, and timely business solutions to the company. IT continues to evaluate emerging technologies and implement new proven technology solutions, whilst supporting business needs with convenient, appropriate and secure access to information and services.

10. Inventory

The Inventory team is responsible for coordinating the timely manufacture and delivery of new release products to Universal's distribution centre in order to meet sales demands. They maintain appropriate stock levels for the company's catalogue to ensure sufficient stock is always available to meet customer orders.

11. Brand Alliance, Sponsorship & Endorsement

Universal’s Brand Alliance, Sponsorship and Endorsement team creates and manages strategic business relationships with third party companies. This includes event sponsorships, artist endorsements, on pack promotions, custom CD compilations, digital downloads or other media players for retail, gift-with-purchase and corporate gifts.
