Gaga's born this way and judas are my favourite but she looks scary with her extraordinary outfits in her music videos.
Little monsters worldwide are in for a real treat with the recent release of Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated third album, BORN THIS WAY.
When an artist issues a release date for their second, third or even fourth album, I become instantly spooked; will the sequel live up to the success, or even surpass, the original, let alone the hype? Or will the new record offer a few catchy, yet forgettable tracks – if any at all?
BORN THIS WAY well and truly kicks this negativity and scepticism to the curb, dishing up a collection of songs you can dance and sing in the shower to – especially to Born This Way, Hair, Judas, The Edge of Glory and You and I – as well as making you want to rally for gay pride, chant for gender equality and feel like you can, for lack of a better phrase, take over the frickin’ world (!!!).
Lady Gaga’s empowering lyrics, harnessed in with a mix of some seriously awesome disco-pop and country tunes, proves this pop star is not only iconic for her meat dress, her ability to be reborn from an artificial egg or the eleventy-billion wigs she owns. Gaga is a talented and versatile musician, justified by the two million copies of BORN THIS WAY that have been sold across the globe this week alone.
I bought the deluxe edition on CD from my local K-Mart. I saw the warning sticker so I assumed I was getting the explicit version. But like the warning label on "The Fame Monster" 2-disc edition, it's purely decoration. I opened the booklet and noticed all the 'naughty' words have been blacked out (are we back in the 1950's?) and when listening to the CD, those same words have been removed from the vocal track. For me, censorship ruins what would be an AMAZING album. I REALLY want to give it 5 stars, but the 'editing' knocks off 2 stars because it means I'll have to fork out $30-$50 to get another copy from another country.
What was the point of the warning sticker? Are you not even bothering to look/listen first? Is it that hard for you to source the original uncensored masters? How much longer do Australian music lovers have to suffer from American prudishness?
Very disappointed. :(
EDIT: Why am I unable to give it a star rating at all? I keep clicking but nothing's happening.
3 Stars.
