Mumford & Sons Return With New Album 'Babel'

Mumford & Sons haved announce the details of their forthcoming second album. “Babel”, the follow up to Mumford & Sons multi-platinum “Sigh No More”, will be released through Gentlemen Of the Road / Dew Process on 21 September 2012. It is produced by Markus Dravs (“Sigh No More”, Arcade Fire).
The band recently unveiled a video teaser to the album through their website with speculation mounting online as to the record’s title.
"We are more than excited to release Babel into the world,” Mumford & Sons reveal, “We had started writing new songs well before we got into the studio to record. At first, we peeled ourselves off the road quite reluctantly. We love playing live, obviously, but it had also become an important part of our creative process, we had been writing and rehearsing in soundchecks, and sort of ‘road-testing’ new songs on our very gracious audiences. But then we fell in love with recording again. The album started to come together, and with the help of Markus Dravs once more (and engineer Robin Baynton), we started to relish the challenge of making this album. As a band, we’ve never been closer or more collaborative, all working to our strengths. And so we feel that this record is a natural progression that we’re proud of, and we cannot wait to take it out on the road."
Mumford & Sons cemented themselves in Australian hearts with the release of their 2009 album “Sigh No More”. The debut went three times platinum in Australia, hitting #1 on the ARIA charts with the storming single ‘Little Lion Man’ voted in #1 in triple j’s Hottest 100 in 2010. Mumford & Sons also won the public voted Most Popular International Artist ARIA, beating out names like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Michael Buble and Taylor Swift.
The accolade-laden debut also saw the band visit Australian shores for sold outshows in capital cities, however the arrival of new album “Babel” will have them return for their biggest Australian tour to date. Mumford & Sons will be travelling to every corner of our country, taking in regional towns as well as capital cities for their global Gentlemen of the Road Stopover Shows. Tickets are selling extremely fast, with Perth and Canberra already SOLD OUT and Perth adding a second show to meet demand.
Ticket buyers can be among the first to pre-order “Babel”, to be delivered on Friday 21 September in the format of their choice. For more information head to mumfordandsons.com.
