Modular is chuffed to welcome another fine wine to the cellar in the shape of multi ARIA-award winning Sydney duo Sneaky Sound System. Miss Connie and Black Angus will release their forthcoming record, From Here To Anywhere, on October 7, just in time for the weather to heat up.
From Here To Anywhere was creatively helmed not just by the talented duo, but also somewhere in Virginia Beach under the watchful eye of Serban Ghenea, studio guru of No Diggity fame and go-to-guy for The Neptunes, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Beyonce et al. Ghenea was enlisted to bring some magic to the mix, sending Sneaky Sound System’s trademark future pop to a nouveau dancefloor in a galaxy far, far away.
A worthy, exciting successor to Sneaky Sound System’s hit-packed self-titled debut (which included UFO, Pictures and I Love It) and the acclaimed follow-up, 2 (Kansas City, When We Were Young and It’s Not My Problem), From Here to Anywhere finds the group more adventurous than ever and on top of their game. Featuring smash singles We Love and Big, this album is already starting to shape the sound of this Summer.
It’s a record of strobing technopop lightning bolts and one that we can’t wait to share

Summer in the southern hemisphere looms and Sneaky Sound System’s third album, From Anywhere to Here, wants in on everyone’s playlists. With ‘We Love’ and ‘Big’ hits already, they stand a good chance of achieving this.
The album is bold and sweet and Miss Connie’s lyrical prowess reigns, pleasingly, in the absence of original SSS member, MC Double D, who left last year to pursue other interests.
Together, Andy McDonald and Connie Mitchell have constructed a dance, electro-pop album with lyrical substance. Refreshing, given the presence of back handed lyrical efforts making charts lately.
The album's theme is undeniably as 80’s as fluorescent scrunchies and Madonna when she wore road cones for bras. Connie’s swag is just as bizarre with funny, left field lyrics like: “That’s why we stay indoors. Would you like to buy a shiny banana? Off with your head, don’t you tell your mother…we love”, she charms her way to the click of a listener’s ‘like’ button.
McDonald’s beat production makes the album a fun fusion of deep house and electro–pop with vaguely, and sometimes not so vaguely, familiar samples working in their favor to achieve very catchy music. Given the duos’ recent work with Kanye West and Jay-Z on their album, Watch The Throne, it’s thinkable SSS adopted Kanye’s knack of taking a familiar sound in music and re-producing an undeniably great song that sees you dancing around the living room, wondering why the song is so familiar and so satisfying. ‘Friends’ and ‘Lovetown’ are good examples.
From Anywhere To Here is for summer and good for driving with, but GREAT for dancing around the living room in nothing but a (normal) bra and undies with a wooden spoon for a microphone.
