I Believe You Liar is the debut full-length album from Megan Washington, the winner of Triple J’s Unearthed in 2008. Washington has released numerous EPs and going by the airplay received, this release is expected to be a massive hit.
I feel like everyone I talk to loves Washington, even my Uncle who I thought hadn't listen to music since ELO last released an album!
Washington has come at the right time, we are all wanting a refreshing pop sound, not to squeaky clean but definately not dirty, we are wanting those ever so relatable Australian lyrics and stories, we want someone who we look at and feel like we can relate, yet are not intimidated..
'I Believe you Liar' is an album that you can hear coming from your teenage daughters bedroom and find in your fathers car.
The album has great diversity, on tracks like Underground she is very comparable to the songwriting great Paul Kelly, yet you can get your dancing shoes on and have a bop to hit single 'Sunday Best'.
I am so excited about this album and know this is the beginning of something great for Australian music.
This highly anticipated debut album well and truly delivers on the hype that has been building for Washington.
I Believe You, Liar offers quirky melodic pop that will provide a fitting summer festival soundtrack: summer dresses, laced up brogues, oversized retro glasses, a plastic cup of beer... and Washington.
Megan Washington is a talented vocalist, slight husky quality and nuanced enunciation, her sound is effortlessly energetic. The acoustic sound of Underground showcases Megan's vocals particularly well. Navy Blues has a motown meets indie intro and segues into a cruisy song that will have you on your feet and singing along. Clementine is sweet and catchy.
This album is hipster heaven.
